About SHARON OWENS
Sharon began touring all over the world at the age of 17 as a singer/
dancer with American Entertainment Productions. She opened with her
troop of performers for acts such as the Letterman, the Mandrell sisters,
Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn and many more.
This wasn’t her first taste of performing. Sharon was a natural actress in
the comfort of her own living room. She entertained her family at the
age of 9 dancing, throwing the baton, playing the flute, singing songs
from Grease and occasionally acting out Natalie Comaniche on the
front lawn.
All was fun and games until it came to the singing part. Sharon was
very self conscious of her nasally high pitched tone. Her father would
linger around the corner critiquing her to “sing lower”, “deepen your
voice” he would whisper.
Even though she was placed in the soprano section all through high
school and college, she would sing alto parts just because she wanted
to sing lower. She also wanted to sing the harmony part. She was the
only one who could hear the parts sometimes.
Although performing was Sharon’s dream, so was getting an education.
Sharon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and Vocal
Music from the University of South Florida and has her Master’s in
Education from Chapman University.
In 1990, she continued to work her way through college by
singing/dancing at Busch Gardens theme park in Tampa, Florida, while
she also did commercial studio work for Sea World and performed in
musical theater.
Her college summers were spent touring the United States and
England.
Sharon’s career as a Barbra Streisand Impersonator/Tribute artist
began in 1992, when Sharon moved to Los Angeles where she began
singing Streisand in dinner theaters and cabaret night clubs. Her
uncanny resemblance and vocal ability to sing Streisand, started her
career as a Legends performer. Soon after discovering her Streisand
sound, she graced one of the finest stages in Europe, in Berlin,
Germany, “Stars in Concert”. She also appears in “Legends in
Concert” at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City.
